Adverbs in Arabic

There are 5 types of Adverb/ Objects in Arabic that are frequently used in day to day basis.

They are listed below with examples and definitions as well.

1) Direct Object. (المفعول بہ)


The thing on which the action of the doer/ subject has occurred.
For Example:

ضَرَبْتُ زَیْداً


2) Locative Adverb.(المفعول فیہ)


The time or place where the action has taken place.
For Example:

انا استیقظ صباحاً

3) Causative Adverb. (المفعول لہ)

The thing or action for which, the verb is generated by the doer.
For Example:

ضربت زیداً تادیباً

4) Absolute/ Cognate Adverb.(المفعول المطلق)


The word or infinitive which is used after the verb for describing the type, number or the emphasis of the same verb.
For Example:

 جلست جلسۃَ القاری۔ اکلت اکلۃً۔ ضربتہ ضربۃً شدیداً

5) Adverb of Accompaniment. (المفعول معہ)


The thing or person with which the verb has taken place.
For Example:

جائ البرد والجبّات۔
